the slowdown the most on the west side. neil: interesting. as opposed to the east. it s difficult to give a blanket statement but the west will suffer more than the east side of the country. certain markets will do well. as a whole, we ll see a slow down. the economy is in bad shape. neil: let s talk about the interest rate phenomenon. it s one thing to see, oh, i think i can manage to pay this higher rate. it s quite another to get approved at that rate. absolutely. the good thing about the lending standards, you don t have the ninja loans where you had no job, no asset and they gave you a loan. people have a lot of equity in their homes, which is a strong point. neil: buyers can get an adjustable mortgage. nothing of the nightmarish quality that we saw a decade al. you can get some that stay fixed for ten years. so there s some wiggle rooms. that s a great point, neil.

so who is right? i don t know what he s looking at, but i can tell you from talking to people across my state and i m sure you hear in from other places around the country, the impact this has had on students and their kids and the ability to learn at the fastest rate possible. you want to optimize your children s opportunities to learn. i have a couple of grandkids starting school this year. i can t imagine educating them at home virtually. the fact that the statistics bear out that there were some serious harm done to our children who weren t able to be in the classroom and get the benefit of everything that comes with that. there s no question about that. so i don t know how you can make a statement like that, a blanket statement like that. i don t think it s squares with the facts. certainly doesn t square with the experience that parents and kids in this country had during the course of the pandemic.
we need to support the doj and the fbi, we also need to support supreme court justices and make sure that they are safe and doing their job as well. the key here is let s just take a step back. a lot of these republicans who are determined to not see any reason for this raid at mar-a-lago need to take a step back because i m quite concerned that some of the information that they have uncovered, i m concerned about what we may find out to come. so instead of just taking a blanket statement that this doj raid was unwarranted and donald trump is the subject of unwarranted prosecution, you need to take a step back and look. the problem with this is that many republicans who are ready to turn their back on donald trump because they see the difficulty he has posed on the party, this has made him a more sympathetic person and republicans who were ready to say, donald trump, i m done with you, they are looking at him as someone that they now want to support and he is essentially become a marty
look at the new guidelines and the guidelines are so new, we heard from the national education association, the president releasing a statement reading in part, that it is important that all students including students with disabilities may put them at greater risk from covid-19 are protected by mitigation measures that allow them to continue to fully attend school in person and that higher risk educators have the boosters and treatment they need to reduce the risk of severe illness and here is the key, just because guidance has changed does not mean covid is gone. and that is so important. because we know that educators and parents, they were asking for there not to be a blanket statement or a blanket guidelines that a rural school or a suburban or urban school may have to have some changes depending on the population. again, we have to continue to be adaptive and use whatever tools we still have. thanks so much. all right, coming up, texas gubernatorial candidate beto-o rourke cu
