there s a road accessible. it s easy to come and get these people by boat. a lot of these neighborhoods are well away from any road that s dry, much more difficult situation. this is going on for miles and miles. we could show you this all over beaumont. you have an interesting scenario. we saw a blackhawk land on the highway where a group of people were waiting. they land, they pick up the rescue victims and move them to hospitals or shelters. the vastness is horrific on a scale. normally in flood zones you see areas of flooding and then areas of green grass. here it is the complete opposit opposite. that s exactly right. i look around and even in the areas that are supposed to have water, there is a marina. you can see some boats. only watersheds in the houston
it s incredible to see what these officers do. you talk about risks people take. these guys will basically hook a cable around their waist and jumped out of a moving helicopter. often into the darkness, often in tough weather. they are doing everything they can on land, ground, and in the air as well to try to save people. kat: eboni: as far as whey are placing people. we know convention centers are at capacity. are there other places that people are being taken to for safety and food? it s been a real challenge in areas like port arthur because the rain has been so heavy and so sudden that even the initial placement in shelters hasn t been good enough. the water has risen in shelters, places that are supposed to be safe. sometimes you have floating costs in shelters. extremely tough situations as this storm continues to hover over places like port arthur. pete: as you talk to
that is priority one, to get the people on boats because they can more quickly get them to medical stations. really, the last resort is a blackhawk helicopter but it s been so bad in beaumont and port arthur. they ve had to use these blackhawks over and over. it is orchestrated flight maneuvering. they come in, land, refuel, unload eight or nine or ten rescue victims and they get back out there. this is only going to last a couple more hours because quite frankly when it gets dark here in beaumont, the blackhawks are going to stop. they tried to call as many votes as possible in the public has responded as well as possible but they need more votes. they need more black hawk helicopters. right now, these guys are doing youmans work. i ve never seen such expert highlighting in all my life
