every year, the national urban league puts out a report on the state of black america. within that report is the equality index, which measures how black americans are doing in comparison to white americans, and this year s findings are pretty grim. it shows the black people still get only 73.9% of the american pie that white people enjoy. and here s some facts that explain the reasons why. the median household income for black people, 37% less than that of white people. black couples are less likely to own a home. but twice as likely to be denied a mortgage or a home loan. the wealth disparity is as wide as ever. and even worse, the life expectancy for black people is declining, with a black child now expected to live four years less than a white child. joining me now is mark morial
