SPRINGFIELD An independent report on how the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield can better address sexual abuse claims, improve transparency and protect the vulnerable is expected to be released next month.
The report is being prepared for Bishop William D. Byrne by the Independent Task Force on the Response to Sexual Abuse, according to Carolee McGrath, diocesan media relations manager. It will include recommendations from Stop It Now!, an outside agency hired by the diocese to gather feedback from survivors on how their allegations could have been better handled.
