The Stinson Prairie Arts Council and the Haggard-Twogood Trust held the first ever Junior High Art exhibit and reception at the Algona Publishing Gallery. Students from Bishop Garrigan, West Bend-Mallard and Algona participated. A reception was held Monday, April 17. On Wednesday, April 26, a reception was held for High School artists from the same schools.

ALGONA Kemna Auto Center has long been a strong supporter of local schools and community organizations. Through its many years in business, the dealership has constantly sought ways to make a difference in the lives of residents and give back to the community that has supported it.
This week, Kemna Auto Center took its commitment to Bishop Garrigan and Algona Community Schools one step further, unveiling an extraordinary new initiative: the “Spirit Truck” program.
The annual STEM event, sponsored by the Algona Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) took place Tuesday April 4. The event annually honors eighth grade girls from Algona and Bishop Garrigan Schools. These girls, recommended by their school’s math and science teachers, receive certificates for their outstanding work in: science, technology, engineering, and/or math (STEM).
DES MOINES Remsen St. Mary's junior Whitney Jensen was named to the Class 1A All-Tournament Team following Saturday's championship game at Wells Fargo Arena. Jensen averaged 11.5 points per game.
