A GROUP of south Shropshire councillors are urging people to do their bit to cut the amount of litter on roadside verges. They are asking residents to take their litter home if they are travelling and report any concentrations of rubbish either to them or to the council. Shropshire Councillor for Bishop’s Castle Ruth Houghton said: “Recurring periods of lockdown has had a major impact on our rural areas both in terms of collection of litter coupled with a serious upsurge in litter being dropped on the roadside especially at beauty spots which are still attracting visitors from outside our area.”
