Ranchi: Incarcerated RJD president Lalu Prasad was shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, in an air ambulance on Saturday evening on the recommendation of an eight-member medical board comprising doctors of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims), where he was undergoing treatment while serving prison terms in various fodder scam cases.
Accompanied by daughter Misa Bharti accompanied, Lalu was wheeled out of the Rims paying ward at about 5:15pm and taken to the Birsa Munda International Airport in an ambulance. Lalu’s wife and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi and younger son and the leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, were also on the flight air ambulance that took him to the national capital.
Ranchi: An AirAsia flight from Mumbai carrying the second consignment of 1.65 lakh Covishield vaccines landed at Birsa Munda International Airport in Ranchi around 11am on Wednesday morning. The consignment is meant for vaccinating healthcare workers of the state and central government as well as armed forces medical service personnel employed in Jharkhand.
Of the 1,65,570 vaccine doses received by the state; 1,54,650 are for healthcare workers, 9,620 for healthcare workers employed with central government facilities and 1,300 are for the personnel of armed forces medical services based in Jharkhand.
The second lot of vaccines, which were taken to the state National Health Mission Headquarters in Namkum in an insulated temperature-controlled van, was provided police escort before they were dispatched to other districts and storage centres across the state.
Several places across Jharkhand, including Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Bokaro, woke up to a foggy Wednesday morning.
The shallow fog reduced surface visibility to 800 metre in Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas at around 6.30 am and to 1,000 metre in Ranchi and Bokaro.
Several other places in southern and central Jharkhand, including adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan, Chaibasa in West Singhbhum and Khunti, witnessed moderate fog which reduced the surface visibility to below 1,000 metre after sunrise at 6 am.
A blanket of shallow fog descended on the steel city and nearby areas soon after sunrise and cleared only after 9 am. Those manning the local IMD observatory said visibility in Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas was reduced to around 800 metre.
