THE prevalence of heart disease in Malaysia is ever increasing and it is still the number one killer in Malaysia. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the mortality rate caused by heart disease demonstrated an increasing trend from 13.2% in 2016 to 17.0% in 2020.
ACCORDING to the Statistics Department, heart disease remains the leading cause of death in Malaysia. In its “Statistics on Causes of Death’’, 15% of medically certified deaths in 2019 was due to the disease which is an increase from its 2017 report, where ischaemic heart disease was the principal cause of death in 2016 at 13.2%.
