On May 25 I will enthusiastically vote for Bill Henchy for Brewster Planning Board.
I’ve had the honor of meeting Bill and understanding his deep commitment to the town’s people and character.
I bought my home nearly 19 years ago. I chose Brewster for its enchanting country feel and “Olde Cape charm.” At the time I was a civil engineer pursuing a degree in interior design. Thankfully at that young adult age I had the experience to recognize the unique qualities Brewster offered without the additional distance from the bridges. I understood that I could easily change my house but not my location once the investment was made.
BREWSTER Negotiations between Brewster, represented by Town Administrator Peter Lombardi, and the 400-member Save Millstone Road group, represented by former selectman Bill Henchy, have reignited following a near collapse.
The town and group seemed tantalizingly close to an agreement at Monday’s Select Board meeting, with only a few issues dividing them regarding the revamp of Millstone Road. We need to resolve the question of the geometry of the road and don t go into a black box (for the design). There needs to be involvement along the way, Henchy said.
A $10 million road bond was passed in 2015, and attention turned to the $5.7 million Millstone project in 2018. The town held three outreach meetings, one each in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Nonetheless, opposition grew even as the project was scaled down.
