rifles knives and chains and brass knuckles. 170 suspects remain in custody, and police warn there could be more trouble on the horizon. let s head to waco and nick valencia. reporter: new developments breaking overnight, and one of the biker gangs involved in the shoot-out over the weekend have agreed to cancel the event that was to take two hours outside of waco texas, with more than 300 bikers expected to be in attendance, and that will no longer happen. three men arrested after the shoot-out back in police custody. they were originally booked under a different bond $50,000 bond instead of the $1 million bond. harris and garcia and king were taken into custody with the help of the u.s. marshal service, and
absolutely we are. we ve seen enough violence we ve seen enough death, we ve seen enough bloodshed, and we re starting to see the rhetoric tone down a little bit. i can tell you, we absolutely appreciate that. we want to work with anybody that we can to keep peace in our community. and sometimes, it makes strange bed bedfellas, if you will. we understand there s a criminal element involved with biker gangs, but we don t have to fight each other. we would ask them and we have to stand down a little bit, take a little bit of time to take a break, let things kind of go into place. somebody asked me if we were worried about retaliation at the funerals. history repeats itself. we know that typically, violence condones violence in violent gangs. we re hoping that doesn t occur, we re asking for it not to occur. in the event that it does we have enough resources to deal with that. sergeant swanton, appreciate your time tonight. i know it s been a busy couple of days for you, sergeant.
well i think what happened this weekend looks terrible. something went off, okay. some bad mistakes. i also heard, i have my sources that were at the scene, and it sounded like some cops were doing some shooting also. so it went bad. it started inside with fist-to-fist worked its way out, somebody pulled a gun, and it s on when you have that many organized people together like that biker gangs. biker groups. you know it s very sad that it happened. every one of them is not like that. but someone started it. you don t do that. there are certain things you don t do you don t wear colors from another gang into an area a state, a city, a county that other motorcycle clubs have sore you re looking for trouble. you re going there for trouble. so they deliberately wanted to provoke a fight. and that s what you believe. because you believe that someone came in from another town a biker gang that wasn t invited
out weapons against the police. never. my guys have never pulled out weapons against the police. none of them. the county hopes the arrests and prosecution will change this long, tiresome battle with an old foe. is this a message to other biker gangs? from this county? very definitely. you know, you want to call this trouble. come into the county. stab people. shoot people. beat them up. you need to think twice. need to do it some where else. nine people died in that brawl on sunday. and even though things have calmed down. authorities are still worrie about violent retaliation from bikers. basically there was contracts out on us. and that is toned down some. we, we said early, that what we would look to see happen is we understand this was a very violent terrible event. we have seen enough bloodshed in
gear and back here at the strip mall, things are getting back to normal. we saw police officers remove remaining vehicles and motorcycles from the scene and in some cases they had to break into those cars. some of those cars actually had weapons inside of them. today things as i mentioned are a little bit more normal than what we ve seen. businesses have reopened for the first time since sunday. it s interesting, the cossacks one of the biker gangs that were involved, they canceled a party for this weekend. reporter: they have an annual event every memorial day two hours outside of waco. the suggestion of local sheriff there they decided to cancel the event. people were concerned that violence could escalate there. 300 bikers were expected to show up. that event will no longer take place. john, kate? still they say that this turf battle not over.
