federal spending on major mandatory healthcare programs will grow from roughly 5% of gep today to about 10% in 2035, a quarter century from now and will continue to increase there after. reporter: of course that includes the provisions of the recently enacted healthcare bill which he says takes small steps towards reducing spending but not enough to make more than a dent, and of course that assumes that the lace enacted as written and that assumes a 21% cut to doctors under medicare and no one expects that to happen. congress has repeatedly stopped those cuts temporarily and it did so again in resent days. the cbo also says the healthcare bill is expected to increase federal spending in the next decade and for most of the following decade. they do say that by 2030 the legislation would slightly reduce federal spending for healthcare if all the provisions are fully implemented. as we said that s always a big f. patti ann: voters meanwhile are
