armed. they also know that because these events have the possibility of attracting far-right extremists, it s not unreasonable to think that there might be bouts of violence which is why, jim, we have this fence here now at constitution and delaware, northeast, in washington, d.c. this is the sad reality that this is a familiar sight because of january 6. i ll swing over here to the corner where there is also a security camera. as you point out, members of congress are not going to be here at the capitol, which is a real plus when you re trying to figure out if there s going to be another ramping up of violence here because, you know, it really mitigates the risk. however, law enforcement is not taking any chances. capitol police is coordinating with the metropolitan police department who has already said weeks ago that they plan to be in full force. the big question remaining, though, is what is the national guard poised to do. our alex marquart pressed d.o.d.
what s your sense of what kind of discussions are happening now behind closed doors in the trump administration? i think what you saw nikki haley says the united states is prepared to act if assad uses chemical weapons against his own people. i know president trump. i know him very well. the last thing he wants to do is have u.s. citizens or military action in a place that doesn t serve the best interest of the united states. so i think those conversations are ongoing. we re going to have to understand what continues to happen in syria. and, look, rob talked about this just on your show earlier. once assad is taken out. and that will happen. who fills that vacuum. that s a very serious colonel. we know when there is a dictator in place, when he is removed, sometimes the problem gets worse. and assad is a very bad guy. he needs to be brought before the world s court and held accountable. what happens when he is held in power. america first and american leadership. abby: big question
