this week much more calm. we have had these tropical storms we were worried about there. they are not going to hit us. fortunately for some people much calmer week. unfortunately none of that moisture making its way into texas you see. all right, guys, back to you. clayton: thanks, rick. the president, remember last week or two weeks ago on the show we were learning about what the president was going to say in his big jobs speech. alisyn: what we thought he would say. clayton: we were hearing word from the white house it would not all be completed on that night. other information would trickle out in the weeks afterwards. turns out we got most of the jobs package. what the other information was set to trickle out is now about this debt reduction plan that he plans to bring to that super committee which goes above and beyond what they have been tasked with already. dave: part of this is paying for that half a trillion dollars jobs plan. economist from the university of maryland.

yes, we need to cut wasteful spending. we re going to need to strengthen our retirement programs. and, yes, we have got to ask the wealthiest merns and biggest corporations to pay their fair share. [cheers and applause] clayton: of course what do the wealthiest americans pay. take a look on your screen. top 1% pay 38% of all income taxes. top 5% pay 58% of all income taxes. and, of course, regulation seems to be the word of the week as eric cantor meanwhile across town holding a counter rally. not really a counter rally but he was at the titan concrete factory basically the head of the titan concrete factory in virginia saying we still have all this government regulation in place. this jobs package is one thing. get rid of the regulation and we can start hiring again. alisyn: the president touched on that, obviously in his speech. he said there were 500 regulations that he had identified that they could do away with. that comforted people.

obama came out really strongly supporting him because of the proposals he put on the table about infrastructure and modernizing our schools and cutting the payroll tax. and really addressing the jobs crisis in a way that congress, unfortunately, hasn t been acting on in the past year. alisyn: guy, you know, some economists have come out and rated the speech and what they think will happen. mark sandy of moody s says it will add 2 percentage points to the g.d.p. and add he could have said 30 million jobs. a lot of economists who like the new plan lovered the previous stimulus. we had 2 million jobs less today than when it was past. told 8% employment rested now it s upwards of 9%. now they want to spend $450 billion more dollars that we don t have on plans that have already demon strappably not worked to turn this economy around.
