fight lower class people as do you for oil companies and rich folks, pass this bill. let s get something done. alisyn: i think he wants to pass the bill. dave: he wants to save his job that s the way i feel when i listen to these speeches. alisyn: obviously that s true. he did say, what was it 17, 18 times in his speech the other night pass this bill. republicans then pointed out actually it isn t a bill. it s just an idea. he hasn t actually written it up yet. he wants some action on it. what he wants and this has been a theme obviously that we have heard throughout his presidency is that he doesn t believe that the richest people in the country are paying their fair share and it s time for them to pay more taxes. let s listen to the president again. 10 days from now i will release a more ambitious deficit reduction plan. and it will follow the balanced approach that i have been talking about for months.
get to work. and let s show the world once again why the united states of america remains the greatest nation on earth. alisyn: will his plan trigger economic growth or more politics as usual? joining us for a fair and balanced debate now is former hillary clinton advisor and fox news contributor jehmu greene and political editor of town hall.com benson. good morning, guys. good morning. alisyn: sky, let me start with you, there are things republicans and democrats will like. he laid out payroll tax cuts. infrastructure spending, school written know investigations, lower corporate tax rates, these are things that republicans have called for as well. did you like the speech? i didn t much care for the speech, which is not to say that i hated every single provision that he laid out in the speech. but i think that your intro was absolutely on the money, alisyn. it really did feel like a campaign speech. i don t think it was a jobs speech as much as it was a jobs speech about savin
your thoughts on the speech and its likelihood of getting through the house. the president s proposal added complexity to uncertainty to an already insane and complex cave. dave: what s complex about it. all you have to do is look at all the different tax crystal and all of the different trinkets that he has in that plan. that s what makes it complex. a company trying to figure out whether an employee qualifies for a particular tax cut, if they are new employee or if they were unemployed for a certain amount of time, i went through it this morning and all i could come away with was most companies are not going to try to do that. it s going to cost more to get your accountant to figure out your credits and the taxes you owe than the credits you are going to get. all he did was add complexity and confusion to an already complex cold. do i think it s got a chance of passing? i don t think so. it s too complex and it doesn t
president s billing it that it would unemployment would go down below 8%. so there is obviously a mixed bag for the stimulus. jehmu greene and guy benson, thanks so much for coming in to have a fair and balanced debate about the speech. we appreciate it? thanks, alisyn. alisyn: entire fields filled with stars and stripes to commemorate 9/11. some people want to change these contributes. their idea is not going over well. we will report it so you can decide. and no more teachers calling home instead they will just ring the bell. schools heading to students homes to make sure that they are learning. is that okay? if it means a better education? i m phil mickelson, pro golfer. if you have painful, swollen joints, i ve been in your shoes. one day i m on p of the world. the next i m saying. i have this thing called psoriatic arthritis. i had some intense pain.
