Why This Album Matters:
The Hold Steady is a throwback to the days when loud, guitar-driven melodic rock n roll ruled FM radio. They conjure up memories of local bar bands telling their beer-soaked stories about neighborhood couples falling in love; nights strewn with the scattered remnants of broken relationships; the home town high school hero longing for a brighter future in a better place; and the inevitable descent on to hard times. Inspired by Bruce Springsteen-style narratives, the Hold Steady paint vivid portraits of lovers, local heroes, drug addicts, working stiffs, seedy characters, and misfits looking for an easy dime.

The blues-rock guitar icon returns to Ruth Eckerd Hall after two sold-out performances in 2020. This is the first time Bonamassa has performed in a power trio live in almost 20 years. Hailed worldwide as one of the greatest guitar players of his generation, Bonamassa has almost single-handedly redefined the blues-rock genre and brought it into the mainstream.
It is indeed a very strange and (here comes that word again) “unprecedented” time for live music. Bands, audiences, venues, and promoters are all still trying to figure out when the gears for the industry will start moving again, and how shows and tours will even
look while the pandemic is still with us or in its own end times.
Contemporary southern rockers the Allman Betts Band are placing their bets on getting back out on the road sooner than later, with an ambitious tour schedule starting this week.

Their website lists 60+ dates of festivals, support slots, and headlining shows stretching through October (this includes a summer “Spirit of the South” tour that pairs them with like-minded musicians and friends Blackberry Smoke). The third date will bring them to the Houston area at the Dosey Doe on February 2.
Eric Bellinger is getting a head start on 2021.
The Grammy-winning singer/songwriter started the year with his
Optimal Music collaboration with longtime producer
Nieman J before releasing his 30th album and the third installment to his presidential series,
Eric B for President: Term 3 in October.
Bellinger tells ABC Audio his 31st album is “already finished” and will serve as a joint collaboration with
Hitmaka formerly known as artist
Yung Berg who has produced hit records for
Lil Wayne,
Jeremih, Ty Dolla $ign, Tamar Braxton, Big Sean, Tinashe, Chris Brown, Teyana Taylor and more.
Fans can expect the Hitmaka-collab as early as February, but Bellinger seems more excited for his “self-titled album” as project #32.
