NEW YORK (WABC) New York City Restaurant Week gets underway Monday even without indoor dining to encourage New Yorkers to support the dining community during a critical time.
This year s event is called Restaurant Week To Go and a record-breaking 570 restaurants across the five boroughs will participate.
Every eatery will offer at least one bargain $20.21 takeout or delivery meal of lunch or dinner with one side dish.
In light of COVID-19 restrictions, many restaurants will offer takeout and delivery for the first time. Diners can also sort restaurant options through filters like Black-owned restaurants, Friyay, date night and more.

The Big Gay Ice Cream Shop s original 7th street location will not reopen after being closed since last March when the city first shut down due to the pandemic.

EV Grieve, reported the news after their readers noticed a For Rent sign in the window of the shop. The confirmation soon came when the co-founder Doug Quint, informed them of a permanent closure. Although he didn t provide further explanation, it is presumed the pandemic had an effect on the shop.
Starting as a truck in 2009, Big Gay Ice Cream shop opened its first location on 7th street between Avenue A and First Avenue. It has been named best ice cream parlor and best food truck in the country, best known for their creative, fun toppings and flavors!
