confrontation over this and a red line being drawn when it comes to a debt ceiling being raised? that s right. the next time that we have a big budget battle, andrea, it won t be on whether the government is shut down. it s going to be about whether we extend the debt limit and you now see the president digging in on this. from an economic view, people need to see more uncertainty and more chances of a shutdown or even the scare of a potential debt default issue. you also see more willingness of this president to break every sense of the separation of powers when he doesn t get what he wants and that s why he may be rebuked by the republicans in the senate today and third, i have to say that there s a degree that we shouldn t fall so much for this because a lot of this is meant to divert from where i think our very mean-spirited priorities that the american public doesn t support. nobody s covered that there is probably $1.4 trillion of

monday. the house comes back into session tuesday. so will anything break the stalemate? joining me now, acting politics editor for roll call sheila and andy krul. good to see you. the blame game continues on the sunday talk shows. what s going to happen with the senate and the house returning this week? anything? frankly, no. probably not. at least not having to deal with the sequester. i think you ll see over the next couple days, you ll see individual lawmakers try to re-enact some funding for projects that are really important to their districts. for example, defense industry in virginia or airline tsa cuts in new york, that kind of thing. even those kinds of requests and those kinds of cries for help i think are going to fall on deaf ears. it s just not going to happen. what we re really looking at is not this week but a few weeks from now at the end of the month when funding runs out for the government and we re looking at another big budget battle. is that what you re hearin
for some of the folks on the campaign trail they can pontificate, at least three had to vote on it. congressman paul and michelle bachmann both voting no. mccotter voting yes. how do you think that plays for them? i think it plays well. they were on the right side of the issue as they dealt it. we had a systemic debt problem in current and future spending. both party have to get together. congressman ryan was right when he said there is blame to go around. the question is, what is congress going to do about it? the next big budget battle is going to cop in the fall when we talk about the 2012 budget. we have some big issues. it is easy to be politician. hard to be a statesman. what america needs now more than ever is stayspeople who roll up their sleeves, give you go the give us the
