suarez live in tampa. chad myers is tracking the storm. chad, we re talking about all of the computer models, the various paths. what are they telling us right now? they re getting more organized even though there are five or so different models that we look at. the ones that the american model was really way out in the middle of the gulf of mexico. that was last week. the european model was in the atlantic ocean, 700 miles away. now all of that has calmed down and narrowed down to about a 100 wide strip where not that much air, what a pretty picture as long as you doan have to deal with this. this is the hurricane. the visible picture from the sky. this is what it looks like when you talk about the hot towers. the big thunderstorms around what could be and likely later today an eye. the storm is now breathing. it is sucking air into it from the surface and it is blowing it up to those towers and out of the top and that is what we call a breathing, living, growing hurricane
hearing, the last of this nature. member have been tight lipped about the exact theme but suggest it will include brand-new information as they continue to fill in the pieces of the puzzle surrounding the insurrection. i think it will be potentially more sweeping than some of the other hearings. but it will be very thematic. it will tell the story about a key element of donald trump s plat to overturn the election. and the public will certainly learn things it hasn t seen before. but it will also understand information it already has in a different context by seeing how it relates to other elements of this plot. none of the members would go any further in terms of exactly what we will see on wednesday. one of the biggest unanswered questions for the committee is what happens after wednesday s hearing. both adam schiff and liz cheney said if they decide to issue criminal referrals, the vote would likely be unanimous. cheney also said she will keep pushing to hold election
supplies. and today governor desantis activated 2500 members of the national guard and cnn correspondents are every angle. let s get started with tom sater. this looks like a very powerful storm that could unleash a lot of fury on the gulf coast, something we haven t seen so far during this hurricane season. and it sounds like people need to wake up and pay attention. everywhere from pensacola to ft. myers. we didn t haven would named storm for the entire month of august and now we have four of them. if it wasn t for ian, we d be talking about fiona, massive damage up in canada. notice how wide it is, the sun is out here and getting the reflection, but you can see the circulation. there is the yucatan. but the infrared satellite imagery is a mess. it doesn t look impressive at all. at 8:00 a.m. this morning, hurricane hunters had a hard time finding the center. they did find it. it can jump around a little bit. and if that center jumps around, it will change the track. and
miles per hour, gusting up around 60 miles per hour. with this storm, you have tropical storm watches in effect for jamaica and hurricane watches for cayman islands. that s because looking at the frarsz we anticipate that this storm will become a category 1 storm maybe even as high as a category 2 storm as it s crossing over the cayman islands. it is then expected to intensify further as it makes its way up towards cuba and crosses into the eastern portion of the gulf of mexico. at that point, perhaps, it could get into that major hurricane strength. here s the thing, though. a lot of that has to do with sea surface temperatures that are in the mid and upper 80s for the area in which it s expected to travel through. that sea surface temperature is a big fuel for these storms. it s not just at the surface but going down tens of feet, talking about the ocean heat content, even down there that water is warm, and that s what these storms need to strengthen and intensify as they c
