Janta Curfew: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray announces financial package of Rs 5,476 crore for poor

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in a bid to provide much needed relief during the âJanata Curfewâ from April 14 to May 1, has announced a package of Rs 5,476 crore for the economically weaker sections, including families below the poverty line, women, the aged, widows, the physically challenged, the unorganised sector, rickshaw drivers and tribals.
Despite the present financial crunch in the state, the government will mop up funds to implement this package. In addition, Thackeray has urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release aid as provided for affected by natural calamities.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday stopped short of calling it a lockdown but imposed strict restrictions across the state for the next 15 days and shut down all industries except those that are part of essential services.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 13 (ANI): Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik on Tuesday said the state government will provide five kg of ration to the state s seven crore people and will also transfer Rs 1,500 in the bank accounts of 25 lakh construction workers and registered rickshaw pullers from Wednesday.
This came after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday announced 15 days of strict COVID-19 restrictions from Wednesday at 8 pm, while ruling out the complete lockdown in the state. However, the essential services will be unhindered during the curfew.
