India s Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has inaugurated the Command and Control Center of Bharat NCAP in Pune. The center will administer star ratings for cars tested under the BNCAP Vehicle Safety Regime. The test protocol will assess cars on child occupant protection, adult occupant protection, and safety assist technologies.
Minister for Road Transport & Highways - Nitin Gadkari, said in a conference that six airbags need not be made mandatory for cars, as consumers are now aware of the safety aspects of the car, thus making it competitive for carmakers.
