India’s own crash ratings under the new programme will empower consumers to make better choices for buying safer cars and promote healthy competition among original equipment manufacturers
Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India said it will offer at least three models for testing under the programme in the first lot itself, while others such as Hyundai Motor India, Mahindra & Mahindra and Renault also fully supported the programme.
The results of the test will be gathered and shared with the automobile manufacturer before being approved by the Bharat NCAP standing committee - Overdrive
