Launching the Bharat NCAP, Nitin Gadkari said that the cost of one test, which is voluntary, will be around Rs 60 lakhs, as against Rs 2.5 crore in international market.

The automobile industry in India has praised the launch of the country s first crash testing program, Bharat NCAP. The program aims to improve road safety standards by implementing an authentic and objective rating system for vehicles. Car manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Renault have expressed their support for the program and have committed to offering models for testing.
The newly launched Bharat NCAP will be implemented from October 1, 2023 and carmakers can voluntarily offer their vehicles tested as per the Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 197.
