Photo: ANI An FIR has been registered against two nurses for criminal negligence on their part in connection with the Bhandara hospital fire incident which claimed the lives of 10 newborns in January, said Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) Hemant Nagrale. A case under IPC section 304(2) (causing death by negligence) was registered against Shubhangi Sathavane and Smita Ambildukhe. Further investigation is on. Earlier, a panel had submitted a report on the incident and on the basis of that, Bhandara district surgeon Dr Pramod Khandate was suspended and additional district surgeon Dr Sunila Bade was transferred.

Raut had ordered the officials of the Energy Department to visit the hospital and find the cause of the tragic incident. After the Nagpur Regional Director of MSEDCL and senior officers visited the spot, Raut tweeted, “After my direction, a team of Energy department officials led by MSEDCL Regional Director, Suhas Rangari, visited the fire accident spot of Govt. Hospital Bhandara. No discrepancy from MSEDCL side was found. No tripping on the feeder was found. Meter condition is normal.”
