in the 3200 block in georgetown of m street northwest. smoke was pouring from the back of the building around 12:30 this afternoon. 100 firefighters descended on the scene in georgetown. they were able to put out the flames in 15 minutes, but traffic delays in the area lasted much longer as roads had to be closed off. right now, m street is partially reopened again. it s not clear just yet what started this fire, and there were no injuries. life behind bars for a hyattsville man who tried to kill a county police officer by torching a german town apartment building last year. raven masters was found guilty of 24 counts of attempted first degree murder, 12 counts of arson and other charges for obstructing justice and theft. fire and police officials tell us the 32-year-old man plotted to kill a police detective to prevent him from testifying in an earlier burglary case. 24 people in the apartment building at the time of the fire. luckily, no one was hurt. i ve been here 3
