governor. i don t know if this country has seen enough of celebritys. what is your thought on him getting in the race? i don t think that he is getting in. i don t think that that is anything that we need to worry about. it is difficult to get up and running. i get that he is a celebrity, but when we look at polling numbers, i don t think that the numbers are there for him. i think that now that beto is in the race, i think that for the most part people will rally behind him. i don t think if he ran as a republican that matthew mcconaughey would be well accepted in the republican party. our governor has a war chest to say the least. i ve heard that it is even higher than $60 million. but let my say something about the border. you talk about the bowling der
in the black community. so often people say that the black people will vote democratic anyway. maybe we need to get the black voter participation up. maybe we need to talk to more african-americans. so i believe that beto has laid a good infrastructure that honestly should have been laid by the democratic party and it was not in existence here in the state of texas. yeah, people take it for granted that there are pockets where the black voters are the base vote. not necessarily this niche market. and which brings me to you, tory, i want to talk about the latino vote which is a huge population. but there are some areas like mcallen that there is a shift toward the republican party, conservative voters. you know, they doubled down on things like the southern border. like abortion rights, et cetera. are you concerned about that and
so get every vote, get every door knocked. i think that there should be a background check for people who want to carry weapons. why not. we do it for everything else. women s issue, yeah, we need to decriminalize pot. we re getting there, but mostly the women s issues, reproductive freedom is my big issue. and there you have it, supporters of beto o rourke s brand new campaign sounded off on why they want to see a democrat unseat greg abbott. something that hasn t been done in a statewide race in texas since 1994, almost 30 years ago. joining me now is friend of the show jasmine rocket and also president and co-founder of way to win. i ll be watching this race closely. texas is ground zero for a lot of oppressive policies.
