Last night (May 16) the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards took place at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, and it was pretty exciting for us all to have just a little bit of awards show joy after a year of missing out on red carpet looks and acceptance speech dramas. But there was one thing we absolutely were not expecting out of last night, and that was Addison Rae and Tanner Buchanan sharing an on-stage kiss.

It’s always a pleasure to see a TV show that hinges on female friendship – and, in theory, the new BBC adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s The Pursuit of Love starring Lily James should be a prime example. It centres on the bond between cousins Fanny (Emily Beecham) and Linda (James), who are brought up together, come out together (not like that – as debutantes), and compare notes on their subsequent marriages and life choices.
