Momentum Protests for Navalny at Foreign Ministry
Momentum president András Fekete-Győr and independent MPs Ákos Hadházy and Bernadett Szél held a joint press conference in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, where they voiced their support for Alexei Navalny and condemned the Russian government. They also reprimanded Fidesz for not acting enough on the unjust poisoning and imprisonment of the Russian opposition leader.
After the three representatives demanded that the Hungarian government stand up for the imprisoned Russian politician, they spray painted #FREENAVALNY on the street in front of the building, which led to police conducting background checks on them.
Tolna County Government Office appointed independent MP Ákos Hadházy to unskilled horticultural work, the lawmaker announced on social media, after he was fined for organizing anti-government ‘car-honking’ protests last year. Instead of paying the fine, he decided on doing community service.
During the state-of-emergency and the lockdown imposed due to the first wave of the coronavirus, opposition Momentum, jointly with independent MPs Bernadett Szél, and Ákos Hadházy, organized several ’car-honking’ demonstrations in Budapest to protest against the hospital evacuations ordered by the government at the time.
Police officers handed out hefty fines to protesters, including the organizers, for “making sounds without reason.”
Human Minister Orders Suspension of Cancer-Screening Programs
Human Resources Minister, Miklós Kásler, ordered the immediate suspension of national cancer-screening programs at the end of last week, 444.hu reports.
According to Minister Kásler, the decision was necessary due to the current hospital numbers as there is an increasing number of Covid-19 infections, suspected infections, and those in need of hospital care.
The suspension only affects the screening tests, all other oncology procedures will continue to be performed.

Crowded Vaccination Centers Contribute to Covid Cases in Hungary?
Hungary’s vaccination centers have been facing backlash ever since photos surfaced of how crowded certain clinics can get at times. Independent member of parliament Ákos Hadházy, known for frequently challenging the government, has asked officials to share relevant information on how many people were infected with Covid after being vaccinated, but he has not received a direct response.
A long line of people was seen in front of Semmelweis University’s Városmajori Heart and Vascular Clinic on Monday. The line of at least 500, mostly young people extended all the way to Gaál József Street. Among them were healthcare workers, emergency responders, teachers, and expectant women, awaiting their vaccination.
