Momentum Protests for Navalny at Foreign Ministry
Momentum president András Fekete-Győr and independent MPs Ákos Hadházy and Bernadett Szél held a joint press conference in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, where they voiced their support for Alexei Navalny and condemned the Russian government. They also reprimanded Fidesz for not acting enough on the unjust poisoning and imprisonment of the Russian opposition leader.
After the three representatives demanded that the Hungarian government stand up for the imprisoned Russian politician, they spray painted #FREENAVALNY on the street in front of the building, which led to police conducting background checks on them.
Tolna County Government Office appointed independent MP Ákos Hadházy to unskilled horticultural work, the lawmaker announced on social media, after he was fined for organizing anti-government ‘car-honking’ protests last year. Instead of paying the fine, he decided on doing community service.
During the state-of-emergency and the lockdown imposed due to the first wave of the coronavirus, opposition Momentum, jointly with independent MPs Bernadett Szél, and Ákos Hadházy, organized several ’car-honking’ demonstrations in Budapest to protest against the hospital evacuations ordered by the government at the time.
Police officers handed out hefty fines to protesters, including the organizers, for “making sounds without reason.”
