Monday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health added 1549 new cases of COVID-19 to the state s total, which is now at 1,196,562. 14 new coronavirus-related deaths were also reported over that two-day time period, leaving Pennsylvania s overall total at 27,043. Statewide percent positivity for the seven days ending May 20th stood at 4.5-percent.
New Jersey s coronavirus hospitalization rate has dropped below 700 for the first time in seven months. It comes as the state reported 260 new infections Monday and confirmed 10 new COVID-related deaths.

Pa. State Police trooper fatally shoots man after confrontation in Northampton County WPVI
An investigation is underway in Northampton County, Pennsylvania after a man was shot and killed by a Pennsylvania State Police trooper on Sunday afternoon.
It happened around 2:34 p.m. on the 900 block of Berger Road in Williams Township, Northampton County.
Troopers were called to the home after a 911 call reported a disturbance in the area.
Upon arrival to the scene, authorities say a confrontation ensued between a 55-year-old man and the trooper outside the home.
At some point during the confrontation, the trooper fired two shots, killing the man, said investigators.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a Trooper-involved fatal shooting in Northampton County. State Troopers were dispatched to the 900 block of Berger Road in Williams Township for a 911 call related to a disturbance in the area just after 2:30 p.m.
A Trooper met a 55-year-old man outside the residence and a confrontation occurred, and the Trooper fired two rounds from the department-issued SIG Sauer P227 handgun killing the man.
Traffic was detoured from Berger Road onto Gaffney Hill Road during the investigation.
