Author apologizes, but defends book

Author apologizes, but defends book February 15, 2021 Marte Michelet, whose latest book on Norway’s Holocaust infuriated descendants of wartime heroes, apologized during the weekend for mistakes that have been corrected in new editions. She staunchly defended, however, her exposure of how badly Jewish Norwegians were treated before, during and after the Nazi German occupation. Marte Michelet’s second book on Norway’s Holocaust was called the “most important book of the year” when it was first published in Norway in 2018. It shattered the official version of the arrests and deportations of Norwegian Jews in 1942, sparking ongoing outcry from several historians and descendants of war heroes. ILLUSTRATION: Gyldendal
