The Centre on Monday flagged to the Delhi government instances of some private vaccination centres registering people under the age of 45 for the coronavirus shots.
In a letter to the principal secretary (health) of the Delhi government, the Centre directed to issue a show-cause notice to Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health, Neuro & Allied Sciences, or VIMHANS, located in the north east district for such practices.

The Union Health Ministry has written to Delhi s Principal Secretary, Health, drawing attention to irregularities in the identification of Covid vaccination beneficiaries, below the age of 45 years, by some private vaccination centres.
In the letter, it has been pointed out that there have been serious lapses in the registration of beneficiaries by the VIMHANS at the Nehru Nagar area in the northeast district. VIMHANS has been found to be registering beneficiaries below the age of 45 years as health care workers (HCWs) & front line workers (FLWs), and vaccinating them, the Centre said in a statement.

New Delhi: With India’s new Covid-19 cases crossing one lakh in a single day on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has again called for a meeting with Chief Ministers of states and Lieutenant-Governors of Union territories on Thursday to review the situation. The back-to-back meetings, after the one chaired by the PM on Sunday, is a part of the Central government’s efforts to contain the spread of the virus, which has once again turned into a full-blown crisis.
The Centre has written to the Delhi government drawing its attention to irregularities in the identification of beneficiaries below the age of 45 years for Covid-19 vaccination by some private facilities. In the letter to principal secretary (health), GNCTD, the authorities have been asked to immediately issue a show cause notice to Vidyasagar Institute of Mental Health, Neuro and Allied Sciences, operating as a private Covid vaccination centre, regarding such wrong practices which violate the vaccination norms, the ministry said. The Delhi government has issued also a show cause notice to Bensups Hospital, Sector-12 Dwarka, for violation of the central guidelines on the eligible groups of population for receiving Covid vaccination.
