In the seventh and eighth episodes of CBS All Access
The Stand, readers of the original Stephen King book likely spotted some key differences in the treatment of Nadine Cross â played by Amber Heard. Specifically, in the text the character winds up going insane and all but comatose after she has sex with the demonic Randall Flagg, but that s not how things play out for her on the show. Sure, she undergoes some massive physical changes, as her pale skin, gaunt features, and white hair make her appear practically dead by the time she gets to New Vegas, but her faith in Flagg holds firm, and up until the end she is excited to be bearing his child.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Glen Bateman s (Greg Kinnear) big sendoff during this farcical trial – instead of a conversation in a jail cell like in the book –made so much dramatic sense and just made it a lot more of a last, well, stand for my favorite character.
BENJAMIN CAVELL: The scene in the book is very memorable, but we had some questions about it. One is just about Lloyd Henreid s (Nat Wolff) arc. Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith in The Stand . (CBS)
The episode sees a voiceover explaining how Frannie’s baby, named Abagail after Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) of course, came down with Captain Trips the plague that killed most people on earth shortly after her birth. But she also became the first person ever to overcome it, signifying that there is hope. The episode then sees Stu (James Marsden) and Frannie reunited and he gets to meet his daughter. They then travel across the country to return to Maine.
When Stu goes into a town for supplies, Frannie decides to investigate a pump in the yard. As she leans over an old well to make it work, she hears Randall Flagg’s (Alexander Skarsgård) voice. Flagg says “Hello, b ” into her ear, and she falls back into the well. Suddenly, we see Frannie is in a forest, speaking to Flagg. He shows her visions of her crumpled body in the well and Stu’s burst tire, scaring her to believe that he would never make it in time
