Intimate Actions Combines 3 Artists Work to Explore Strength, Fragility

Courtney Bierman interviews Bemis Center curator Rachel Adams A free exhibition at the Bemis Center joins three artists’ work to explore intimacy as it relates to the body, relationships and space. “Intimate Actions” features solo exhibitions by Maria Antelman, Joey Fauerso and Paul Mpagi Sepuya . The exhibition will also serve as a jumping off point for a series of community conversations called “Public Assembly” which started this month and will continue through March and April. A recent MFA graduate from New York City’s School of Visual Arts and a participant in Brooklyn’s Residency Unlimited Program, Rosales-Silva uses an abstract approach to explore the complex identity of the ever-expanding histories of Brown people in the United States. The exhibition, titled Sunland Park, opened on January 27th, 2021, and will be on view until March 27th, 2021.

“The Question the Answer Hides at Stockton University Art Gallery When making plans, there is one almost-certainty: plans will change. Sometimes the path is terminally altered by the changes, and other times, though there are twists and turns, the destination you envisioned is reached.  “The Question the Answer Hides: Casey Ruble and Wendel White,” the exhibition that opens on September 25 at the Stockton University Art Gallery, demonstrates the latter. The show features more than 70 pieces by New Jersey artists Casey Ruble and Wendel White, most from the two artists’ respective “Red Summer” projects, referencing the 1919 race riots and attacks on Blacks who migrated from the south for work after World War I.

OMAHA, NEB .-Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts invites the public to the virtual opening of three new solo exhibitions by artists Maria Antelman, Joey Fauerso and Paul Mpagi Sepuya. Curated together under the rubric of Intimate Actions, the exhibitions are centered on the theme of intimacy and how it enters into representations of the body, one’s connection to space and surroundings and our relationships. The exhibitions are on view through February 27, 2021.
