NAI Nashville Stanton Group has announced the promotion of Kate Nickerson to director of accounting.
According to a release, Nickerson (pictured) manages all accounting and reporting functions for the company including those involving budgeting, planning and forecasting; financial and regulatory reporting; and internal controls.
Previously, Nickerson served as a senior accountant with The Stanton Group Inc., which merged with NAI Nashville in 2020. Before joining the firm, she worked more than seven years in corporate accounting in the health care industry.
Nickerson holds an accounting degree from Samford University.
âKate has been part of the team for the past three years and is a great asset to the company and clients,â NAI Nashville Stanton Group CEO Devin McClendon said in the release. âKate has immense knowledge and experience in accounting. She is determined and pays close attention to detail, a much-needed skill in the profession.â
Abelow named president of Nashville Bar Association Friday, December 25, 2020, Vol. 44, No. 52
Mike Abelow, member at Sherrard Roe Voigt and Harbison, has been named 2021 president of the Nashville Bar Association.
Abelow litigates complex business disputes, with a focus on business disputes that involve either party threatening to or filing for bankruptcy. He was a litigator with the Federal Trade Commission before moving to Nashville in 2007.
Before becoming a board member of the NBA, Mike chaired the Federal Courts Committee and the Sister Cities Committee. In addition to his work with the NBA, he is a board member of the Tennessee Justice Center, which he served as board president, the Nashville Urban Debate League and Seven Hills Swim and Tennis Club.
Neal & Harwell has added attorney Marisa Garcia as an associate in its litigation practice group.
Garcia (pictured) graduated from Belmont University College of Law in May, according to a release. She was an editor of the
Belmont Law Review and a member of the Belmont University board of advocates. Garcia also worked as a summer associate with Neal & Harwell and held additional positions with the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office and the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance during school.
Prior to law school, Garcia was a member of the U.S. Air Force.
“We are thrilled to add Marisa to our litigation team at Neal & Harwell,” Chief Administrator Ronald Harris said in the release. “With her many talents and work ethic, we know that she will be a most effective advocate for our clients.”
