“Portrait of a Lady on Fire” star Noémie Merlant turns in another remarkable performance in the film as Benjamin, a woman transitioning to a man. While living on an island off the coast of Brittany in France, he and his partner (played by French chanteuse and actress Soko) decide to have a baby. The film empathetically explores a trans man s desire to have children and raise a family.
