Wheat harvesting, threshing in full swing in Potohar

ISLAMABAD: The wheat crop harvesting and threshing was in full swing in the Potohar region, like other parts of the country, due to the expected week-long dry weather predictions by the weather experts, aiming at preventing the crop from any damage.
“The farmers are interested in harvesting their wheat crop as soon as possible to avoid any harm from the unpredictable rains in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad due to the changing weather patterns,” said an official of Food Department Punjab in his telephonic talk with this agency.
He said wheat crop on 290,000 acres of land in Rawalpindi region provides around 275.26000 tons wheat every year.
PTI govt believes in practical service of masses: Aviation Minister
Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan has said the PTI government believes in practical service of masses.
Addressing a gathering in Chak Beli Khan today (Saturday), he said it is the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to protect the rights of the people.
He said the government is working to extend basic amenities of life to all without any discrimination.
The Minister for Aviation said that the alliance of opposition parties will not be allowed to play with the future of the country.

ISLAMABAD: A day after a Pakistan International Airlines plane was impounded by Malaysian authorities due to a British court case over the aircraft’s $14 million lease dispute, Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan said on Saturday that the national carrier did not pay the lease due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Talking to reporters in Chak Beli Khan, the aviation minister said that PIA got two aircraft on lease in 2015 but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the airline failed to pay the dues last year.
He said that a case was pending in a United Kingdom’s court and the airline was contesting the case in the UK but there had been no ruling in it yet.
