Research that i do look for protesters in the 1960s and what i find is that when protesters are non violent and there are heavy handed tactics by authorities, that builds sympathy for the protesters. That is what we saw two weeks ago at columbia when students took over the building. What i find also is that when protesters engage in protest initiative violence, that tends to build sympathy for more Law And Order and i think that is what we saw today.
