Starting Thursday, all Californians ages 16 and older will be eligible for a coronavirus vaccine and there are several ways you can prepare, according to Bay Area vaccine-hunting experts.
First things first: Don’t get discouraged.
The searching process can be disappointing given how quickly appointments are snatched, and you might not find a slot on your first try but experts encourage people to keep trying.
“If you start to feel discouraged or you’re not able to access an appointment reach out for help,” said Lee Nevo Lamprey, a vaccine hunter for the Facebook group Bay Area Vaccine Hunters and founder of the It’s My Shot website, where she shares tips.

Q: What is Phase 1B?
Following CDC Guidelines, the State of California laid out a priority framework on who can get the vaccine. The first shots went to the most vulnerable in the population, under Phase 1A health care workers and people who live or work in long term care facilities. The next group is in Phase 1B. Phase 1B is a broad category of eligibility with about 12 million people qualifying in California. It includes Food and Agriculture workers, including those who work in restaurants, grocery stores and farms.
