There is talk from residents here that Homeless People were living inside that barn and may have somehow started the blaze. We are trying to get information on that. Two other homes have heat damage, but are livable, and we just saw that the American Red Cross is assisting the families with a place to stay tonight. A fast moving fire damaged boats docked in the oakland estuary today. Smoke and flames could be seen coming from a houseboat around noon. Fire crews responded in a small fire boat. It took about 30 minutes to get this fire under control. One boat was destroyed. Todays fire comes after a pear caught fire in the estuary over the weekend. Employees were wheeled into ambulances this afternoon. It could happen to anybody. Its so close. Reporter a total of 17 people with were exposed to a chemical called creigh yoe sol, a mild corrosive used as a sealant for childrens fillings. Of the 17, 5 adults and 2 children were transported to the hospital. We treated it as a hazmat exposure. We had a hazardous incident team. Reporter Officials Say employees noticed a strange odor coming from a cap being worn by a dentist. The dentist could smell it, others could smell it. Reporter upon investigation, employees discovered that a oneounce bottle of the chemical had somehow been knocked off onto a set of caps kept inside the same cabinet. Staff members called 911 and executed the centers evacuation plan. Patients and employees complained of issues with breathing as well as irritated skin. Bart is running shorter trains so they are packed with people. And thats affected trains systemwide so bart is ordering parts for these cars that normally takes about five months for the parts to come in so bart is trying to work with the manufacturer to make that a little bit shorter amount of time so they can get these cars back on track.
