quit. more than 60 million americans are under heat alerts, with temperatures expected to once again soar into the 90s and heat indexes receiving 100 degrees. newark, new jersey, hit 102, and boston hit 100 degrees yesterday. relief may be on the way for the northeast, but temperatures are now expected to build throughout the week in the pacific northwest and central plains. in california, a wildfire is raging outside yosemite national park. the oak fire it s called, which exploded over the weekend has burned more than 16,000 acres and forced evacuations of multiple towns. it s just 110% contained right now. cnn s reporter is standing by live in california with the latest on this. camilla, what are you hearing right now? reporter: hey, kate. for the first time since this fire started, we are seeing some progress, that 10% containment. it is a big deal. over the last couple of days, we ve been at sooepercent. the early morning hours, the ke cooler temperatures are really hel
floating around about the battle of ukraine and russia. ukraine wants to be free from the oppression of russia. in 2004, russia attempted to overturn an election that led to the orange revolution. in 2014, when the then president was getting too much control for russia, that led to a revolution. ukraine wants to be free of russia controlling them and manipulating them. russia doesn t want that. what russia is doing, it amounts to genocide. they know the ukrainian people don t support them or want them there. so we are going into these towns in ukraine, taking the population, and in many cases executing people in the country who refuse to submit to their rule. this is one of the more brutal things that we have seen in decades that russia is trying to do. and the ukrainian people just want their country. they want their sovereignty. we need to work with them to protect that. they need their children back
