COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement Frequently Asked Questions
Which COVID-19 vaccines will be accepted?
Bates will accept all U.S. FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccines. At this time, the U.S. FDA has authorized three COVID-19 vaccines for emergency use. They are the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, and the Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine (Johnson & Johnson). Additional vaccines are seeking U.S. FDA authorization, and Bates will also accept these once they have been authorized by the U.S. FDA.
What should I do if I’m an international student and do not have access to an U.S. FDA-authorized vaccine before coming to campus in the Fall?
Prior to Traveling
There are three public health precautions we ask you to take as you prepare to travel to Bates:
Close your social circle. Ten days prior to arriving on campus, start to limit non-essential interactions with other people outside of those with whom you live and work. Be mindful of how you can reduce your chances of exposure.
If possible, get tested for COVID-19 within 72 hours prior to arrival on campus. No matter where you are currently residing, if COVID-19 testing is available in your area, please get a test before you begin traveling. If you test positive, you should not return to campus. Rather, contact Bates Health Services (healthservices@bates.edu) to notify the staff of your positive test.
