GRANVILLE Granville successfully rounded-out a four-day, Fourth of July celebration that seemed like good old, pre-COVID times on Monday with a parade filled with local faces.
As a result of pandemic-fueled health regulations during summer 2020, the Granville Kiwanis’ annual 4th of July Celebration was notable for required face-coverings, some sidewalk chalking and decorating contests, but no rides or carnival food.
But Granville celebrated Independence Day 2021 starting with Friday night fireworks, a downtown packed with rides and carnival food concession stands, and it ended with a patriotic parade and foot race through its downtown Monday.
Early Monday morning, Jerry Miller, who co-chaired the annual event with his wife, Lesa, said: It s just wonderful to be in a small town and look down the midway and see all this, then tomorrow you come back and it will all be gone.
