that not when we were told upwards of a hundred casualties from inside that venue. cal, thank you very much. richard lui is in paris for us with an update on the manhunt from there. richard? brian, before we get to the manhunt, you were talking about the bataclan theater. right over my shoulder, about a block down that way, today is really a symbol that perhaps we re different on this day. because up until sunday, there were numbers on the ground as the investigators and forensics team was still locking all the information. a resident who lived across the street told me, he could not feel like he was coming home. back to the investigation, several developments to talk about. first off, they have a mastermind, somebody that they believe was organizing what happened on that friday night here right behind me and five other sites in the city. 27 years old, a belgian, born of
about finding that eighth attacker. and the primary suspect in terms of who that eighth attacker could be is salah abdeslam. he is the brother of one of the men who blew themselves up at the bataclan theater. in fact, he was actually stopped by police a few hours after the attacks, john. he was questioned and then allowed to continue on his way. it s believed he was driving toward belgium. we saw a series of raids also this morning in belgium. so far, though, no word on where he might be. john? and there are french media reports, clarissa, that six of the eight attackers had spent time in syria. you report of the 150 raids that took place overnight are still presumably ongoing. you said not clear how they are connected to the investigation of the terror attack on friday, but some of these raids have turned up things like a grenade launcher, not to mention serious weaponry and arms like the
eighth attacker. and the subject, the primary subject of this investigation and manhunt appears to be a man called salah abdeslam. he is the brother of one of the men who detonated his explosive vest inside the bataclan theater. he was actually stopped by pless and questioned a few hours after the attack driving towards the belgian border. that now very much the focus of this investigation. alisyn? clarissa, help us understand these arrests and the 104 house arrests. are these people that they believe had some sort of connection to friday, what happened here, or are these just people who were on law enforcement s radar that they now want to keep a closer eye on? i think, alisyn, at this stage, police are leaving nothing to chance. they want to try to find anybody who has had any history of affiliation with islamist groups, dangerous islamist groups, of traveling to syria and iraq. they are not leaving any leads unfollowed. it s difficult to say at this
antiterror raids across france including raids in toulouse, grenoble spanned kcalais. the attacks targeted recruiting center and training base. 12 airplanes flew the mission flying out of bases in jordan and the uae. we are also learning more about one of the men behind the deadly shooting at the bataclan theater. nic robertson went to the paris suburb where he lived. reporter: it s the movement the concert hall killers opened fire. one of them, 29-year-old i male omar mostefai identified by his fingerprints. as shocking as his attack, where he once lived, the beautiful catholic city, an hour outside paris. the town everyone in france is talking about now. but a quiet mosque in its
progress. as we watch this video, you can see the breach there is the the front of the building. what you re not seeing is that a lot of the patrons who were there in the theater were fleeing out the back. that is something that was very violent at the time. also important to node here, brian, and you know this better than anyone, the emergency responders there, standing by as a secondary force to deal with the wounded. there was nearly 100 people critically wounded and as is always the case in these horrifying incidences, time is critical to get the wounded to the hospital as quickly as possible. people saw patrons coming out with their hands up. in that instance, it s critical to know friend from foe. they did not yet know when they would breach the inside that most of the attackers would kill themselves, a horrible scene and we really couldn t believe it
