DVIDS - News - South Carolina National Guard prepares for transition back to residential Basic Leader Course

18 COLUMBIA, S.C. The South Carolina National Guard prepares its Basic Leader Course (BLC) at the 218th Regional Training Institute (RTI) at McCrady Training Center in Eastover, South Carolina, to transition from virtual classes back to residential courses in the upcoming fiscal year. “We are planning for a phased approach to returning [back] to resident because it has been a year since we conducted a resident class,” states U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Gabriel Brown, 218th RTI, 3rd Battalion Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Academy commandant. In June 2020, the 218th RTI developed a virtual instructional platform to safely continue the mission of training Soldiers to become NCOs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

5 PROVO, Utah - For going above and beyond in performing an immense act of kindness to a deployed Soldier, Ginger Livingston of Ginger Snaps Photography, was presented a Seven Seals Award by officials from the Utah Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Provo, Utah, April 16, 2021. Staff Sgt. Jullienne Labrum, a Basic Leader Course instructor with the 640th Regiment-Regional Training Institute, nominated Livingston for the award for the support she received from her while deployed for 12 months to the Middle East. Before Jullienne left on her deployment, she contacted GingerSnaps Photography to take some family photos with her husband Jake and infant son, so she could have them while she was away.

2 FORT BLISS, Texas - St. Louis, Missouri native Wesley Langston was promoted to the rank of sergeant in the United States Army Reserve during a ceremony at Fort Bliss, Texas, March 31, 2021. Sgt. Wesley Langston currently serves as a billeting noncommissioned officer with the 647th Regional Support Group (Forward), Fort Bliss Mobilization Brigade in the facilities section. The 647th RSG (Forward) assumed authority of the Fort Bliss Mobilization Brigade in January 2021 and is responsible for managing, planning, and coordinating support services related to mobilization and demobilization. It serves as the pre-mobilization liaison for U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard Soldiers by providing administrative and logistical support prior to, during, and after mobilization.
