The state is suspending the liquor license of a Danbury business as a penalty for violation of regulations concerning the retail sale of alcoholic liquor to be consumed in the restaurant, and hours of operation. The Caribbean Café, at 127 Park Avenue in Danbury, has already paid a fine in connection with the violations. Now, the business will not be able to serve alcohol during a two day license suspension next Tuesday and Wednesday, December 19th and 20th.

Lawmakers and advocates for incarcerated people called Wednesday for transparency in Connecticut’s prison system in response to an incident at Garner Correctional Institution in Newtown that happened back in September, in which criminal charges have been filed against three correction officers… Anthony Marlak, Joshua Johnson and Patrick McGoldrick. Barbara Fair is the lead organizer of Stop Solitary CT, and yesterday she said video of the event shows an unnamed inmate being “brutally assaulted” by the officers. All three are currently free on $20,000 bond.

On Tuesday came word that Region 12 Board of Education Superintendent Marc Gosselin Jr. is resigning from the school district after having served just under one year as the district leader. According to Gosselin, he’s stepping down for “personal reasons.” His last day is expected to be December 31. Meanwhile, there has been no word about who may step in to serve as interim superintendent, nor has there been any word about a search for a replacement.
