Until a video review overturned the umpire's call of safe, Tony Wolters appeared on Sunday to have become the first Cubs catcher to steal home in nearly 55 years.
It would have been only the Cubs'.

Through Thursday, the count stood at
19,944.
This is the second of 2 posts looking at the players who were the 1,000th, 2,000th, etc., to appear in a big league game.
This post covers the 10,000th through 19,000th.

Cubs historical sleuthing: Ivan De Jesus edition
Share this story
Getty Images’ supplied caption with this photo says:
Ivan DeJesus #11 of the Chicago Cubs rounds third during an MLB game against the Los Angeles Dodgers circa 1979 at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois.
All right, there are some useful clues in the caption and the photo, though I should add that the “circa” dates on some of these photos have turned out to be wrong.
What do we see here in addition to De Jesus?
That’s Joe Amalfitano coaching third base, and Dodger (and future Cub) third baseman Ron Cey. De Jesus is rounding third base and the play appears to be coming from right field, as that’s where Amalfitano’s attention is focused. Cey is looking toward right field and the center fielder is not part of the play.
Cubs milestone wins on road By JohnW53 on Jan 9, 2021, 3:43am CST +
11,000 games in the National League.
They ended the season with
11,016.
4,971 on the road.
So, the Cubs need
29 more wins to reach
5,000 on the road. They have won at least 30 road games in every full season but one beginning in 2001, and from 2015-19 they averaged 43.
They were 15-12 on the road in the shortened 2020 season.
.
Two Major League teams already have won 5,000 times on the road: the Giants (5,105) and Dodgers (5,026).
The Cardinals (4,989) also have more road wins than the Cubs.
The Cubs first win ever in the National League came on the road, a 4-0 triumph at Louisville in their NL debut on Tuesday, April 25, 1876.
