Vadodara: Soon, Barodians would be able to enjoy matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) from the pavilion in their city as the construction of the international cricket stadium at Kotambi began here on Thursday. The Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) management said that the stadium will be ready by the end of 2022.
“We will be able to host IPL matches in 2023. The BCA will also be eligible to host One-Day Internationals (ODI) once our own stadium is up and ready,” said Pranav Amin, BCA president after performing the groundbreaking ceremony in presence of office-bearers and committee members. Amin said that the stadium will be of international standards and provide the best of facilities for the players and spectators.

“The idea is to give talented cricketers a platform to perform. We have a good pool of quality players but not everyone gets an opportunity to showcase their talent due to the limited number of tournaments. So we decided to organize a T20 tournament especially for BCA players,” said Pranav Amin, BCA president told TOI.

Vadodara: Former Aussie cricketer Dav Whatmore is set to return as coach for the Baroda team. Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) president, Pranav Amin, said that Whatmore will join the association as coach of the Ranji team in the upcoming cricketing season.
“We had roped him in last season but he couldn’t fly down to India due to some visa issues. Whatmore contacted us and informed us about his decision about joining Nepal’s cricket team as coach,” Amin told TOI. “But Whatmore had said he will join us whenever it is possible. He will join Baroda in the upcoming season,” he added.
