The red outline on this map of Camp Edwards shows where the Army National Guard is proposing an eight-lane machine gun range. The surface danger zone, where projectiles could land, is highlighted in pink.
A tense meeting over a proposal build a machine gun range on Joint Base Cape Cod ended tonight with the vast majority voicing their opposition to the project.
The virtual three-hour town hall, attended by more than 200 people, served as the first open conversation the Massachusetts Army National Guard has held since outcry over the project began in August.

I’ve had the honor of meeting Bill and understanding his deep commitment to the town’s people and character.
I bought my home nearly 19 years ago. I chose Brewster for its enchanting country feel and “Olde Cape charm.” At the time I was a civil engineer pursuing a degree in interior design. Thankfully at that young adult age I had the experience to recognize the unique qualities Brewster offered without the additional distance from the bridges. I understood that I could easily change my house but not my location once the investment was made.

The Barnstable Patriot
The Barnstable County Board of Regional Commissioners on Wednesday named the county s Human Services director, Beth Albert, to succeed Jack Yunits, Jr. as County Administrator when he retires.
Meeting March 4, the three County Commissioners thanked Yunits for his dedication and leadership during his tenure as County Administrator. As former Mayor of Brockton, Yunits has long had a reputation for recruiting and developing top talent. It was a key reason he was hired to lead Barnstable County, according to a media statement. As County Administrator, he spent his entire time at the county, mentoring and developing a competent management team and a very strong group of Department Heads.
