JAMMU, May 12: Jammu region today reported single-day highest 46 COVID casualties in Union Territory’s total of 65 and 1759 positive cases as virus further spread to rural areas in almost all 10 districts.
In a major cause of worry for health experts, 11 deaths in the region were reported in the age group of 23-45 years while 21 women were among the dead. Also, there was no let up in deaths at home with seven COVID positives persons brought dead to hospitals by the family members.

JAMMU, May 2: Forty one more persons died of COVID-19 and 3571 tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir today. Jammu region recorded 28 deaths, 11 of them women, and 1150 cases.
Among the dead were a doctor, two women from New Delhi and Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), a Pharmacist of District Hospital Samba, an official of Railways Company hailing from Andhra Pradesh and a 26-year-old youth.
Another Judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, a KAS officer posted as Block Development Officer (BDO) at Bhagwa in Doda and three officials each from Crime Branch and State Bank of India (SBI) Head Office tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu today. Few days back, a retired Judge of the High Court and his family were infected while prior to that another serving Judge had tested positive for the virus.

LEH, Apr 17: The Govern-ment today reduced cap on gatherings and functions from 200 to 100 and also postponed Class 11th examinations as five more lives were lost to COVID including a 37-year-old woman of RS Pura and 40-year-old from Gorakh Nagar and 1145 tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir while the virus has infected 245 more people in the Union Territory of Ladakh including 236 in Leh and nine in Kargil prompting the administration to shut schools in Leh till April 30.
