Weyburn Comp student company Bubble Up hopes to clean up

“We are currently processing orders received last week. We have nearly met our sales goal for Bubble Up and are super excited to be working with the Weyburn Salvation Army, as 10 per cent of the total sales earnings will be given to them,” said Jamie Borshowa, co-president of the student company, along with Risa Burdan. “We have introduced a limited-edition scent, which is Peppermint for $9.50,” she said. “We also have Bubble Bundles for $24. For the Bubble Bundles we are using our original scents (lavender, coconut, lemongrass, and unscented) and colours can be customized (pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple), but not the limited-edition Peppermint.”

In the Business Leader of the Year Award category, sponsored by Ramada and Canalta, the finalist is Don Shumlich, CEO of the Weyburn Credit Union. In the Golden Service Award category, sponsored by MNP, the finalists are: Barber Motors and RP Automotive. In the Business Hall of Fame category, sponsored by the Weyburn Credit Union, the finalists are: RP Automotive, Don’s Plumbing & Heating, and East Wey Auto Body. In the New or Expanded Business Award category, sponsored by Community Futures Sunrise the finalists are: Mryglod Steel and Metal, Fido’s Place Doggy Daycare and Training Centre, and DSI Contracting.

Weyburn Rotary Music Festival awards scholarships

The Stars of the Festival was held virtually on Wednesday evening, and the scholarship recipients were announced by emcees Colleen Weimer and Bob King, and the performances were dedicated to the memory of the late June Barber, a a former musician and piano teacher, and the late Isabelle Butters, who was a patron of the arts and a former mayor of Weyburn. Music Festival president Heather Sidloski said in her introduction to the Stars performance, “Although public performances have been limited this year, students have continued their music journey by taking virtual music lessons, practicing at home, and recording performances to share with others.”
